Two distinct majors for Undergraduates

The disciplines of Chemical and Materials Engineering have long traditions contributing to key technological advances. This stems from their ability to combine scientific principles with the art of engineering practice. Our academic programs are based on fundamental understanding of chemical activity, physical structure, mass transport, thermodynamics, kinetics, processing, characterization, mathematical modeling, and design. Our graduates demonstrate the ability to creatively apply their broad knowledge in solving a variety of societal problems, and become respected scientists and engineers in their chosen field.

Chemical engineers are known to work in the very important chemical process industry. They also work to develop textiles, detergents, papers, foods, leather, nuclear fuels, cement, pesticides, paints, natural and synthetic rubbers, drugs, and numerous other products derived from crude oil, gases, coal and other natural resources.
