Materials Science and Engineering is an ideal field for graduate research studies. It is inherently multi-disciplinary, requiring a broad knowledge of the sciences, powerful characterization techniques, novel processing methods, and a focus on important cutting-edge applications. Our graduates are well prepared to be independent scientists who are able to identify new research directions, execute a variety of novel processing and characterization techniques, and succeed in emerging areas at the forefront of technology.

Our curriculum is individually tailored for research success utilizing diverse courses throughout the UK campus. Thermodynamics, structure of materials, and mechanics compose our core curriculum. Other graduate courses are chosen to enhance career opportunities and directly benefit thesis research topics.
