Sowmya Ganapathi is currently a Ph.D. student in Chemical Engineering at the University of Kentucky. She expects to receive her Ph.D. in October 1995. In the area of biofunctional membranes (enzymatic biocatalysis), she has coauthored a paper in the J. Membrane Science (91, 47-64, 1994) and is currently writing (with Bhattacharyya, Vishwanath, and Summers) a chapter for a book. EPR Spectroscopy was also used by her to establish enzyme conformation inside a membrane matrix. She finds the research interaction between Chemical Engineering and Chemistry to be very rewarding for her Ph.D. program. After graduation she would like to do industrial R & D work in the area of Separation Technology, Membrane Science and Technology, and/or Waste Minimization through Novel Separation Technology/Biotechnology.

Ms. Ganapathi is currently looking for challenging job opportunities in these areas.
