During June and July, the Department of Chemical and Materials Engineering hosted 15 undergraduate students from across the country as part of the Research Experiences for Undergraduates (REU) program, funded by the National Science Foundation; other participating departments included Biomedical Engineering, Chemistry, and Pharmaceutical Sciences. The ten-week program provided rising juniors and seniors with the opportunity to work with faculty and graduate students on multidisciplinary research focusing on Engineered Bioactive Interfaces and Devices. In addition to research, the students participated in educational activities including weekly seminars, brainstorming sessions, mentoring lunches, and field trips. The culmination of the program was the Poster Competition and Awards Ceremony on August 4th.
