Dr. David Silverstein, Associate Professor of Chemical Engineering at the Extended Campus Program in Paducah, has received a number of awards this past Spring. In February, Dr. Silverstein was honored at UK’s Founder’s Day Celebration as one of the recipients of the Provost’s Award for Outstanding Teaching. In addition, Dr. Silverstein has received the ASEE Southeastern Section Outstanding Teaching Award for 2011, presented annually to recognize a faculty member who has demonstrated exceptional contributions to engineering or engineering technology education through outstanding classroom performance.
At the AIChE Spring Meeting in Chicago, Dr. Silverstein was presented with the 2011 Herb Epstein Award for outstanding contributions to technical programming on a national level. This marked the second consecutive year that this recognition was bestowed on a UK faculty member, as Prof. D.B. Bhattacharyya was named as the recipient of the AIChE Epstein Award in 2010.
