Lexington and Paducah Students Prominent at AIChE Regional Student Meeting in Atlanta

40 students from the AIChE Student Chapter in Lexington and 10 students from the AIChE Student Chapter in Paducah attended the AIChE Student Regional Conference hosted by Georgia Tech. April 1-3rd in Atlanta.  Five students participated in the oral research presentation competition (Justin Byarski, Erica Davis, Anastasia Kruse, Craig Needham and Wesley Whipple):  Justin Byarski won the overall first place award, and will represent the southern region in national competition at the AIChE Annual Meeting in Minneapolis this coming October.  In addition, Paducah student Wesley Whipple received a third-place award for his section.  UK students presenting research posters were Austin Isner, Landon Mills, Nico Setiawan, David Spencer, and Chris Stevens.

Students from Lexington and Paducah made a successful bid to co-host the 2013 Southern Regional Meeting in Lexington, KY.

UK AIChE Student Chapter officers are: Michael Abney, President; Justin Byarski, Vice-President; Chelsie Bottom, Secretary; Lynndsey Klenk, Treasurer.  Dr. J. Zach Hilt is the chapter advisor.

UK Paducah AIChE Student Chapter officers are: Ryan Hayden, President; Mitchell Peeler, Vice-President; Rachel Brashear, Secretary; Jacob Thomas, Treasurer. Dr. David L. Silverstein is the chapter advisor.
