The College of Engineering’s Cooperative Education Program (Co-op) offers students an option to gain valuable engineering work experience at leading companies both in Kentucky and across the U.S. Starting in their sophomore year, Co-op students complete three paid work rotations, giving them one full year of industrial experience by graduation. While the Co-op program adds a year to the typical undergraduate career, most students find that their real-world work experiences reinforce what they learn in the classroom, leading to enhanced academic performance and long-term professional success. Plus, Co-op students are well paid: salaries for our Co-op students are currently $12 to $18 per hour. Recent Co-op placements for include Messer Construction, CMTA, Turner Construction and Alltech.
