Fall 2016 Engineering and Computer Science Career Fair

hireblue logoThe fall 2016 Society of Women Engineers Engineering and Computer Science Career fair will take place on September 27 from 12-4 pm (VIP Students enter at 11:30) at Memorial Coliseum.  Employer/Exhibitor registration is now live through our Jobs system, Wildcat Career Link.  You can also view employers registered so far using the same link. Graduating Engineering/CS Seniors:

The Society of Women Engineers hosts an “Evening with Industry” once a year only for seniors (male and female) graduating within the next year (Dec-Aug).  The event will take place on Sept. 26 from 7-9 pm at the Hilary Boone Center on campus.  You will receive and invitation to participate in this networking event with employers recruiting full time entry-level engineers and computer scientists. Participation is free, but you must register and put down a deposit (which will be refunded when you arrive at the event).  The student registration for this event will go live at the beginning of the fall semester.

 Co-op and Internship Fair

image file fairCompanies and organizations mainly looking for a small number of part-time or summer interns, or a coop student, the College of Engineering is hosting a Co-op and Internship Fair on October 14, 10 am – 2 pm, at the Mining and MInerals Resources Building on UK’s campus.

Students, if you’d like to connect with employers, please consider attending. This is a smaller event, but it is easier to talk to companies and get your resume in front of them. This event does not replace the career fair, but it is an additional opportunity for students and companies to discuss positions.


Career Fair Prep and Networking Events


Engineering Resumania:

This Event takes place once a semester a week or two before the career fair.  Have an employer critique your resume or give you a quick mock interview. No need to dress up, just bring your resume with you.

The Fall date was Friday, September 16, 2016, 10 am to 2 pm in the Mining and Mineral Resources Building. You can still get a resume review with someone from our team.

Engineering Resume Review/Interview Drop Ins

Quick 10-15 min meetings for help with your resume, letter writing, interviewing or searching for an job or internship opportunity. Every Tuesday and Wednesday from 3:00-5:00 pm in the E-Studio space in RGAN (next to the Engineering Commons). After the career fair on Sept. 27, we will be available for appointments. Please e-mail John Beck with a couple of days/times that work for you and he will schedule with you.

Employer Information Tables

Every Wednesday during the semester from 10:00 am-2:00 pm, Ralph G. Anderson Atrium – meet employers who are on campus to discuss your resume, their recruiting needs or the engineering professions with you.  Every Wednesday, we will have 1-3 employers on hand to answer questions about careers in their company for you.

Career Fair Prep Seminars:

Learn how to do your homework on career fairs and how to best work it! Participation in one of these seminars, as well as a resume review (through career counselors on campus or at Resumania), will allow you to become a Career Fair VIP, giving you access to the fair half an hour before the general student population is admitted. This is valuable time with employers with short or no lines, so don’t miss out! Both the Gatton College of Business and the College of Engineering are offering the same seminar, so pick a time that works for you and stop by.
