Engineering Alumni Association
History
The first meeting of the College of Engineering Alumni Association was held December 2, 1983 at the Lexington Club. The Association was founded to support the College of Engineering in many areas of endeavor. Many of the same initiatives are still in place today.
The Engineering Alumni Association membership is now over 1900 and the Board of Directors strives to support the College as stated in the Association's mission statement.
Initiatives such as soliciting legislative support for the Mechanical Engineering/Commons Building included contacting Engineering alums all over Kentucky, thus providing the College with additional voices throughout the Commonwealth. Student recruitment for the College and increasing membership is a high priority of the Association. Various activities such as the annual Outreach Event, Professions Night supports these endeavors.
The Association also sponsors the Senior Leadership Award recognizing the outstanding graduating senior who has shown exemplary service to the College through her/his leadership positions and activities and funds the Senior Leadership Scholarship. Finally, the Association sponsors a reception for graduating seniors and gives each graduate a free, one-year membership to the Association.
