Future Faculty Mentoring Program off to a Good Start
The Education Division is has successfully initiated a program for Future Faculty Mentoring at the 2012 AIChE Annual Meeting. Interested in serving as a Mentor in the next cycle? The time commitment is modest and the possible impact on a young ChE is great. To join the pool, please fill out the short application at http://jimi.cbee.oregonstate.edu/concept_warehouse/FFMentor/
Information about being a mentor or a mentee is available by clicking the role of interest. Questions should be directed to the program coordinator, Division Director Milo Koretsky (email@example.com).
Bylaws Approved by Membership; Division Logo Adopted
The membership of the Division has ratified proposed changes to the Bylaws, which will now be submitted to CTOC for approval. Additionally, the membership adopted the new logo for the Division as pictured in the header.
Issue 3 of ChemEDU News Now Available
The third issue of the official newsletter of the AIChE Education Division, ChemEDU News has just been published. Look for a summary of the 2011 Education Division Annual Meeting program, and of Matthew Liberatore's (Colorado School of Mines) summary of his "Online Homework" article recently published in Chemical Engineering Education.

We are pleased to announce that the Education Division of AIChE will hold a banquet in honor of T.W. Fraser Russell. This will follow the AIChE Sunday Awards Symposium honoring the 2011 award winners. We will meet at the bulletin board by the registration desk at 6:30 pm to walk to the restaurant. The price is $60 for the meat entrees and $32 for the vegetarian entrees and must be paid in advance (by September 15) to reserve a seat. This price includes tax & gratuity but does not include drinks.

The second issue of the official newsletter of the AIChE Education Division, ChemEDU News has just been published. Take note of the original article by Pauline Schwartz from the University of New Haven on engaging students with PowerPoint, and of Adrienne Minerick's (Michigan Tech) summary of her "Journal Club" article recently published in Chemical Engineering Education.

Division Approved by CTOC
The AIChE Chemical Technology Operating Council (CTOC), repsonsible for Divisions and Forums within the Institute, removed the probationary status of the Education Division during its Chicago meeting held in conjunction with the AIChE Spring Meeting. This means the Education Division is now considered a permanent Division of the Insitute.

2010 AIChE Annual Meeting
Links to detail on the 2010 Education Program are available on the Conferences page. Note the Division Dinner will be a la carte on Tuesday, November 9. Meet at the registration area at 6:00 for a 6:30PM seating at the Market Street Grill. Take a peek at the menu! Bring cash if you can to speed the end of the event.
Also take a look at the minutes from the 2009 to be approved at the Wednesday, Nov. 10, business meeting (11:10-12:15, SPCC 150A/B), and the agenda slides for the 2010 business meeting. The 2011 Programming meeting will be held on Tuesday, Nov. 9 (11:10-12:15, SPCC 150A/B).

The Education Division Dinner was held at Sunset Grill on Tuesday, November 10 at 6:30PM. Jim Henry was kind enough to take and post pictures.
