Camp Counselor Application

The University of Kentucky College of Engineering is seeking camp counselors for our women in engineering summer camp, WiE Explore, a residential summer experience for high school women who are interested in pursuing engineering as a college degree.

The program will be held from June 24-30, 2018. As a camp counselor, you will mentor and lead an engaged and diverse group of high school students as you plan and implement fun activities, direct them across campus to their engineering workshop activities, go with them to industry tours, and more. This is a great opportunity to directly impact a young woman's future as she prepares to consider UK and the field of engineering as a college choice.

All counselors will stay overnight in the Engineering Residential College, Woodland Glen III, for the duration of their camp. If selected, camp counselors are expected to commit to the entire duration of the camp, and should have no outside commitments during that time. Each camp counselor position is a paid experience. For this camp, we are seeking 2 head counselors and 5 counselors. Head counselors will be paid at a rate of $500 for the week, and counselors will be paid at a rate of $400 for the week.

Application requirements:

  • Must be a female, rising UK Engineering rising sophomore, junior, or senior with a cumulative GPA of 2.75 or higher
  • Able to commit to the entire duration of the program with no external commitments
  • Live in Engineering Residential College for the duration of the program (at no cost to you)
  • Willingness to complete a background check and undergo 2 trainings prior to the start of the camp

The application deadline for this program is Thursday, April 19, 2018 at midnight. There will be an additional round of interviews for select applicants the following week. You will be notified of your interview status by Sunday, April 22.
