The University of Kentucky College of Engineering is mourning the loss of civil engineering graduate student Anna Zhidkova who died October 14 after a sudden illness. Anna, 26, had received her bachelor’s degree in civil engineering this past May through the WKU-UK Engineering program.

“Anna was a wonderful student and an incredible person.  She was one of the brightest and most hard working students I have ever known in my thirty years at UK.  She was a constant source of inspiration.  She will be greatly missed,” said civil engineering professor Lindell Ormsbee.

Fellow professor Scott Yost shared these words at Anna’s funeral: “She wanted to learn about everything.  At WKU she wanted to fulfill a math minor, be certified in watershed management, become a GIS expert, all the while finishing the required program and preparing herself for future studies.  She so loved what she was doing that she worked tirelessly.”
