Introductory level materials engineering course. Focus is on the fundamentals of bonding, structure, and properties of materials.
Advanced topics in the synthesis, processing, and sintering of ceramic and particulate materials.
Focus on relating the structure and bonding in ceramic materials to their mechanical, electrical, magnetic, optical, and thermal properties; processing, shape-forming, densification and machining of ceramics and design considerations.
Dr. Eitel joined the Faculty at the University of Kentucky in July of 2006.
He received his B.S. degree in Ceramic Engineering from Alfred University in 1998 and his Ph.D. in Materials Science and Engineering from the Pennsylvania State University in 2003. His doctoral work focused on the development of high temperature piezoelectric materials. Following his Ph.D., he pursued research in ceramic microsystems at Penn State’s Materials Research Institute (MRI). He is a member of the American Ceramic Society (ACerS), Keramos, the Institute of Electrical and Electronics Engineers (IEEE), the International Microelectronics and Packaging Society (IMAPS), and the Materials Research Society (MRS).
