PROCESS CHEMICAL ENGINEER
IBM Corporation
Austin, TX
Chemical engineer on start-up team for large printed circuit card manufacturing plant.  Environmental Engineer responsible for water quality programs (high purity process water, groundwater monitoring, surface and storm water) for a large 600 acre electronic manufacturing site with 12,000 employees. Prepared and received approved air monitoring permits for intensive manufacturing locations.  Performed stack sampling to insure continued compliance.  Interfaced with City, State, and Federal regulatory agencies  concerning soil remediation, hazardous waste disposal, hazardous materials storage, air monitoring, water quality, and groundwater remediation.

Responsible for Hazardous Materials Emergency Response Team comprised of 50 members.  Provided all training including confined space entry, chemical safety, incident command system, and hazardous materials clean-up/disposal.

Manager of Chemical Distribution Center.  Responsible for all personnel and administration of  applicable local, State, and Federal regulations governing handling, storage, transportation, and disposal of waste chemicals (RCRA, DOT, 49 CFR, ICAO, PCB’s, TSCA, etc.), including manifesting of hazardous wastes.

Manager of Chemical Maintenance Services.  Responsible for personnel providing maintenance of chemical systems for two large electronic manufacturing plants at the Austin location.

Systems engineer in areas of air abatement, deionized water production, and bulk chemical tank farm.  Prepared and administered multimillion dollar capital/expense plans.  Implemented system enhancements and troubleshot advanced system operational problems.  Purchased and installed new air abatement equipment and submitted air monitoring permits for all equipment, including large carbon adsorption systems.

PROCESS AND ENVIRONMENTAL ENGINEER
Velsicol Chemical Company
El Dorado, AR
Played a major role in the start-up of a new chemical manufacturing plant to produce 10 MM annual lbs. of a flame retardant product.  Acted in a team effort to double production capacity of an existing operation production to 27 MM annual lbs. of a brominated organic specialty chemical.

Acted as an environmental engineer for the manufacturing complex.

Performed stack sampling for air permits and established water quality programs.

R & D CHEMICAL ENGINEER
Ashland Chemical Company
Columbus, OH
Liaison between R&D and six manufacturing plants, start-up/troubleshooting new operations, and implementing changes to improve existing chemical manufacturing strategies.

Responsible for all manufacturing trial runs of new specialty chemicals, organic intermediates, antioxidants, jet fuels, and petroleum additives.

Responsibility began at laboratory level, through the pilot plant, and final production runs and manufacturing facilities across the U.S.

Performed in-depth and detailed designs of grass roots chemical manufacturing plants to evaluate economics of proposed new products.  Analyzed preliminary economics from patents, SRI reports, and internally generated laboratory/pilot plant data.
